Batik making in Arusha

Hi, I'm back (Loic). We spent some time visiting an organization outside of Arusha called the United African Alliance Community Center .  They work with orphans.  The art teacher showed us how to make a batik and this is how you do it. How to Make a Batik Materials: Camping stove and pot White fabric Different color dyes (use black at the end) Paintbrushes Sponges White candle wax Stencil Instructions: 1. Choose a stencil (which is cut out of cardboard) 2. Measure stencil on fabric and cut fabric to size  3. Choose background colors 4. Take sponge and apply background colors on piece of cloth 5. Wait about 40 minutes for cloth to dry 6. Take out camping stove and pot 7. Take white candle wax, break it in half and take out string 8. Turn on camping stove; put pot on camping stove 9. Put candle wax in pot and melt 10. Place stencil on cloth 11. Take paintbrush and dip it in the hot wax (CAUTION: Don't knock pot over or flick the brush as wa
